Rachael Clearwater's Dreamwalk, A Survivor's Journey Through Breast Cancer, is a short, easily readable account of one woman's breast cancer ordeal from diagnosis, through treatment and into the awareness of the present moment. Ms. Clearwater was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of forty eight. She has since dedicated her life to easing the path of cancer patients and providing emotional support as they pursue physical as well as spiritual healing. The book was written to provide guidance to other survivors and their loved ones and help them to avoid some of the stumbling blocks encountered by the author during the course of her own experience. The pages are filled with encouragement and the sense of a positive outcome. Breast Cancer, the word that strikes terror into the hearts of women the world over, has reached epidemic proportions in the United States with little hope of an absolute cure on the near horizon. Currently, one in eight women is diagnosed with the disease. With the verdict in, she is caught up in a horrific nightmare, looking for answers that often dont exist. Breast cancer patients, men and women, need tools for prevention and survival. We need to know that were not helpless or alone. Unlike other autobiographical accounts, this work is filled with the authors irrepressible sense of humor and positive outlook. Readers will learn the importance of assertiveness when dealing with the medical profession. They will come away not only empowered but much better educated. Dreamwalk provides crucial information and is a must for women who are newly diagnosed as well as for their family and friends. |
